Today’s Verse
“Truly he is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will never be shaken.”
Psalm 62:2
The Fortress That Cannot Fall
“I shall not be moved” is a bold declaration when everything around you is shaking. It sounds almost arrogant, until you realize it’s not about your strength at all. It’s about where you’re standing.
A fortress isn’t just any building. It’s designed to withstand attack, built with walls so thick that nothing can breach them, positioned on high ground where enemies can’t reach. And when you’re inside a fortress, the battle raging outside doesn’t determine your safety. The strength of the walls does.
God is your fortress. Not a fortress you visit when things get bad, but the fortress you live in, the place where your life is hidden and secured. And when storms come, and they will come, your ability to stand firm has nothing to do with how strong you are and everything to do with how strong He is.
The psalmist understood this. He faced enemies, betrayal, and life-threatening danger, yet he could say with confidence, “I shall not be moved.” Not because his circumstances were stable, but because his God was unshakeable. Not because he was powerful, but because the One protecting him was invincible.
Today, whatever is threatening to knock you off balance, fear, uncertainty, opposition, loss, remember where you stand. You’re not out in the open, vulnerable to every storm. You’re hidden in the fortress of God Himself. And nothing, absolutely nothing, can move what He has secured.
Today’s Prayer
Lord, You are my fortress, my unshakeable refuge, and because I am hidden in You, I shall not be moved.
The storms are raging, the winds are howling, everything around me feels unstable, but I stand firm because my foundation is You.
Teach me to run to You when I feel vulnerable, to make You my first line of defense instead of trying to protect myself, to find safety within Your walls.
I confess I’ve tried to be my own fortress, building walls of self-protection and self-reliance, when what I really need is to hide myself in the strength only You provide.
Help me remember that being unmovable doesn’t mean I won’t feel the pressure or face the battle, it means I’m anchored to something stronger than the storm.
Remind me that my security isn’t found in my circumstances staying calm but in standing on the solid ground of Your faithfulness, no matter what comes against me.
Give me the confidence to stand firm when everything is shaking, to refuse to be moved by fear or doubt or the chaos swirling around me.
Let me be unshakeable today, not because I’m strong but because You are my fortress, my stronghold, the refuge I run to, and nothing can move what You have secured.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen.
