Today’s Verse
“Love never fails.”
1 Corinthians 13:8
The Love That Doesn’t Quit
Love fails. We know this because we’ve experienced it. People we trusted walked away. Relationships we invested in fell apart. Promises made were promises broken. And somewhere along the way, we learned to protect ourselves, to hold back, to question whether any love can really last.
But then there’s God’s love. And it operates by entirely different rules.
Paul tried to capture it in 1 Corinthians 13: “Love never fails.” Not “love usually succeeds” or “love tries its best.” Never fails. It’s absolute. Unconditional. Unwavering. And when he wrote those words, he wasn’t talking about human love at its best, he was pointing to divine love as the standard.
God’s love doesn’t fail because it’s not based on anything changeable. It’s not tied to your performance, your worthiness, your ability to keep it together. It’s rooted entirely in His nature. He is love. Which means His love toward you can never fail, because He cannot fail. It’s as constant as His character, as permanent as His existence, as reliable as His Word.
This is the love that pursued you before you knew Him. The love that held on when you walked away. The love that sees every flaw, every failure, every reason you think you’re unlovable, and doesn’t flinch. It’s not that He overlooks your mess; it’s that He loves you in the middle of it, through it, and beyond it.
Today, whatever has failed you, relationships, dreams, your own strength, remember this: God’s love hasn’t and won’t. It’s the one constant in a world of variables. Build your life on it. It will hold.
Today’s Prayer
Lord, Your love never fails, never runs out, never gives up, never changes based on my performance or my circumstances.
When everything else in my life feels unreliable and unstable, Your love remains constant, the one thing I can always count on.
Teach me to build my identity on this unshakeable truth, that I am loved with a love that will never fail, never disappoint, never abandon me.
People fail me, I fail myself, plans fail, dreams fail, but Your love stands firm through every season, every mistake, every triumph, every tragedy.
Help me stop questioning whether Your love will last, whether I can do something to lose it, whether it’s real when I can’t feel it.
Remind me that Your love isn’t based on my worthiness but on Your nature, that You are love, and therefore Your love toward me can never fail because You cannot fail.
Give me confidence to rest in this love, to let it heal the places where human love has failed me, to believe that what You promise about Your love is absolutely true.
Let me live today anchored in the certainty that God’s love never fails, and may that truth give me courage to love others well, knowing I’m loved by the One whose love will never let me go.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen.
