God carried you

Today’s Verse

“Even to your old age and gray hairs I am he, I am he who will sustain you. I have made you and I will carry you; I will sustain you and I will rescue you.”

Isaiah 46:4

You Were Carried

There’s a dangerous lie we tell ourselves: “I made it through.” We look back at the hard year, the difficult season, the impossible circumstances, and we take credit for our own survival. We pat ourselves on the back for being strong, resilient, capable. And we miss the truth entirely.

You didn’t make it this far on your own. God carried you.

Every morning you woke up when you didn’t want to, He gave you breath. Every moment you found strength you didn’t think you had, He supplied it. Every time you kept going when quitting felt easier, He held you up. You’ve been carried, sustained, upheld by a God who never once let go.

Isaiah captured this beautifully when God said, “Even to your old age and gray hairs I am he, I am he who will sustain you. I have made you and I will carry you.” Not “I’ll cheer you on from the sidelines.” Not “I’ll be nearby if you need me.” I will carry you. Active. Present. Personal.

This year, you faced things that tested your limits. And yet, here you are. Still standing. Still moving forward. Yes, you showed up. Yes, you took the steps. But look closer at who gave you the strength to do so.

As this year ends, acknowledge the truth: God carried you. And He’ll carry you into the next year too.

Today’s Prayer

Lord, I didn’t make it this far on my own, You carried me through every step, every struggle, every season of this year.

When I look back at all I’ve walked through, I realize my own strength would have given out long ago, but You sustained me.

Teach me to give credit where it’s due, to stop pretending I’ve pulled myself up by my bootstraps when the truth is You’ve been holding me up all along.

There were moments I thought I couldn’t go on, days I felt like quitting, seasons that should have broken me, but You carried me through them all.

Help me remember the times I felt Your arms beneath me, the ways You provided strength when mine ran out, the moments You held me together when I was falling apart.

Remind me that making it this far isn’t a testament to my resilience but to Your faithfulness, not proof of my strength but evidence of Your sustaining grace.

Give me humility to acknowledge my dependence on You, gratitude for the carrying I didn’t always recognize, and faith to trust You’ll carry me through what’s ahead.

Let me celebrate making it this far not with pride in my own accomplishment but with worship for the God who carried me here and will carry me still.

In Jesus’ name,

Amen.
