Scripture

2 Corinthians 3:2-3·WEB Translation

You are our letter, written in our hearts, known and read by all men; being revealed that you are a letter of Christ, served by us, written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God; not in tablets of stone, but in tablets that are hearts of flesh.

Devotional

The Christ They Can’t Unsee

When we were choosing a church to get married in, our local parish church vicar told us something I’ll never forget. He said a wedding is not an evangelical event...

I was furious.

I looked around at the guest list we were putting together and I knew the truth. For many of our friends, this would be the only time they ever set foot inside a church. This was it. This was the moment. And the one person who should have understood that the most completely missed it.

We were so let down that we ended up having our official marriage in a local registry office, where we couldn’t even mention God. The following day, we had a "blessing" in a church, which we treat as our real wedding day. But the sting of that conversation never left me.

Every single day is an evangelical event.

Your coworker who has never opened a Bible is watching your life instead. Your neighbor who wants nothing to do with church, is seeing how you handle stress. The friend who walked away from faith years ago is quietly paying attention to whether yours is real.

Paul told the Corinthians that they were a letter from Christ, known and read by everyone. Not written with ink but with a life.

They might never bring it up. They might never ask you about your faith or what you believe. But they notice. They notice when you lose your temper and they notice when you don’t. They notice when you’re generous for no reason. They notice when you forgive someone who doesn’t deserve it. They’re building their picture of God whether you realize it or not.

That’s the reflection. Not a polished performance. Just an honest life, lived in front of people who are watching more closely than you think.

Prayer

Lord, let my life be a reflection of Your love to everyone I meet, showing them through my actions, words, and presence what You’re like, making Your love visible and tangible.

A reflection means people should see You when they encounter me, that my life mirrors Your heart, displays Your character, demonstrates Your love in ways they can recognize and receive.

Teach me that reflecting Your love isn’t about grand gestures but consistent kindness, patient listening, genuine care, treating every person with the dignity and compassion You show them.

Everyone I meet means no exceptions, not just people I like or who are easy to love, but difficult people, strangers, those who annoy me, everyone deserves to encounter Your love through me.

Help me slow down enough to actually see people, to notice needs, to respond with love instead of rushing past opportunities to reflect You to someone who desperately needs it.

Remind me that some people’s only encounter with Your love might be through me, that I could be the hands, the voice, the kindness that shows them what You’re like.

Give me awareness throughout my day of opportunities to reflect Your love, wisdom to know how, courage to act even when it’s inconvenient, grace to love like You love.

Let my life be a reflection of Your love today to everyone I meet, in every interaction, making You visible through how I treat people, showing them what Your love looks like.

In Jesus’ name,

Amen.
