“Let us not grow weary in doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we don’t give up.” – Galatians 6:9

Life often presents us with opportunities to do good, to pour ourselves into worthy causes, to serve others, and to invest in things that matter. Yet, alongside these opportunities, there can be a silent exhaustion that creeps in. We might find ourselves working hard, giving generously, or patiently enduring, only to feel our energy wane and our resolve begin to falter. It is in these moments that the words of Galatians 6:9 resonate deeply: “Let us not grow weary in doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we don’t give up.”

This verse is a gentle anchor, reminding us that perseverance is not just about gritting our teeth and pushing harder. It is about understanding the ‘why’ behind our actions and trusting in God’s perfect timing. When we commit ourselves to doing good, whether in our homes, workplaces, communities, or personal spiritual journeys, we are planting seeds.

Some of these seeds may sprout quickly, showing immediate results and bringing encouragement. Others may lie dormant for a long time, requiring consistent care and faith, without much visible progress. It is easy to become disheartened when the harvest seems far off, or when our efforts feel unnoticed or unappreciated.

But God promises a harvest “in due season.” This isn’t a guarantee of immediate gratification or an easy path. Instead, it’s an assurance that our diligent efforts, when rooted in His will, are never in vain. Our role is to remain faithful in the “doing good,” and God’s role is to bring forth the fruit at the appointed time. This perspective shifts our focus from the immediate outcome to the steadfast journey, allowing us to find quiet strength in His promise.

So, when the temptation to give up arises, remember that every act of goodness, no matter how small, contributes to a greater purpose that God is weaving together. Continue to sow, trusting that His faithfulness will bring the harvest.

Prayer for the day: Lord, we invite Your presence and guidance into every task and decision. Grant us the strength to continue in goodness, trusting You to sustain us in all our efforts.
