God will make a way where there seems to be no way

Today’s Verse

“Do not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the Lord will bring you today.”

Exodus 14:13 (NIV)

Stand Firm and See

They’d been running for days. The Israelites, chased through the desert by the Egyptian army. And then they reached it… The Red Sea. Completely impassable. A wall of water with no way across.

Behind them: an army determined to kill them. In front of them: an impossible barrier. No escape route. No options. No hope.

I’ve been trying to imagine what they were feeling. I imagine it was a completely hopeless situation. This was the end. And, from every logical perspective, they were right. There was no way out.

But then Moses said something that must have sounded absurd… “Do not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the Lord will bring you today.”

Stand firm? When there’s an army behind you and a sea in front of you? When there’s literally no way forward? When all hope is gone?

Yes. Stand firm. Because what looks like a dead end to you is just another opportunity for God to do what only He can do.

I imagine that most of us wouldn’t have the faith to believe there was a way out in this situation. I know I wouldn’t have. But maybe you’re there right now. Facing something just as impossible. A situation with no way out. A problem with no solution. Circumstances that have crushed every bit of hope you had. And from every perspective, you’re right, there is no way.

But God specializes in making ways where none exist. He parts seas. He moves mountains. He opens doors that don’t exist yet. Sometimes that deliverance looks like circumstances miraculously changing. Sometimes it looks like strength to endure what doesn’t change. Sometimes it’s a path forward you never saw coming.

The same God who split the Red Sea is the same God in your impossible situation today.

Today’s Prayer

Lord, You will make a way where there seems to be no way, opening paths through impossibilities, creating solutions that don’t exist yet, finding routes when I’m completely blocked.

I’m staring at a dead end right now, no options, no solutions, no way forward that I can see, every door closed, every path blocked, completely stuck.

Teach me that “no way” from my limited perspective doesn’t mean no way at all, that my inability to see a solution doesn’t limit Your ability to create one from nothing.

You specialize in making ways where none exist, parting seas, opening prison doors, providing manna in deserts, doing the impossible precisely when it looks most impossible.

Help me stop panicking when I can’t see a way and start watching for You to make one, to shift from problem-focused to God-focused, from what’s impossible to who makes the impossible possible.

Remind me of times You’ve made ways before, when I was stuck and You opened paths I never saw coming, when You created solutions I couldn’t have imagined or arranged.

Give me faith to stand in the “no way” place trusting You’re already working on the way, patience while You create what doesn’t exist yet, hope that refuses to accept dead ends as final.

Let me rest today knowing You will make a way where there seems to be no way, and what looks impossible to me is just another opportunity for You.

In Jesus’ name,

Amen.

Q. What impossible situation am I facing right now that feels like there’s no way out?

Q. Have I lost hope in this situation? If so, what crushed that hope?

Q. What would “standing firm” look like for me in this situation today?

Q. When has God made a way for me before when I thought there was no way?

Q. Where do I need to release control and watch for God to work instead of trying to fix it myself?
