Scripture
Lamentations 3:23·KJV Translation
It is of the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning. Great is Thy faithfulness.
Devotional
Great Is Thy Faithfulness
Today I’m writing my 100th devotional. When I started, I had no idea if I’d make it to ten, let alone one hundred. But here we are.
The consistency of showing up each morning has changed me. This small commitment to write every weekday morning and process my relationship with Him, has had a profound effect on my life.
Before starting writing these, with two young kids, my quiet time was very “ad hoc.” Sometimes I would go days without picking up my bible. But now I think it’s something I’d do whether I was publishing it here or not.
Looking back through them, the thread I see that brings them all together is His faithfulness.
When you consistently look for God’s faithfulness, you start seeing it everywhere. In small provisions. In unexpected strength. In grace that meets you exactly where you are. It compounds. Each time you see His faithfulness, it builds your confidence to trust Him the next time.
And I’m not the first person to discover this. Jeremiah wrote “Great is thy faithfulness” from the ruins of Jerusalem. Everything had fallen apart. The city was destroyed. The people were in exile. And in the middle of that devastation, he wrote: “It is of the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning. Great is Thy faithfulness.”
New every morning. Even in the ruins. Even when everything falls apart. God’s faithfulness shows up again.
Maybe you’ve been inconsistent in your walk with God. Starting and stopping. Going weeks without prayer or Scripture. Feeling distant. But what if you committed to consistency, not perfection, just showing up? Even five minutes a day of acknowledging His presence, His faithfulness, His mercies that are new this morning?
One day builds on the next. Your history with God, the catalog of times He showed up, becomes the foundation for trusting Him with what you’re facing today.
God’s faithfulness is new every single morning whether you’ve been consistent or not. And when you consistently look for it, you’ll find it. Here’s to the next 100.
Prayer
Lord, great is Your faithfulness, proven through every season, constant through every circumstance, reliable when everything else shifts and fails around me.
Your faithfulness isn’t occasional or selective but great, magnificent, exceeding anything I could ask or imagine, surpassing every human standard of reliability.
Teach me to worship You for faithfulness I’ve experienced personally, the times You showed up, the prayers You answered, the ways You provided when I didn’t know how You would.
Great is Your faithfulness means yesterday’s provision assures me of tomorrow’s, that Your track record builds my confidence, that past mercies promise future ones.
Help me remember specific moments of Your faithfulness when doubt creeps in, to catalog the times You came through, to let history with You strengthen present faith.
Remind me that Your faithfulness isn’t dependent on my worthiness, doesn’t fluctuate with my performance, doesn’t change when I fail, remains steady when I’m unsteady.
Give me a heart that responds to Your faithfulness with worship, with gratitude that overflows, with trust that builds on evidence of who You’ve proven Yourself to be.
Let me declare today with confidence and joy, great is Your faithfulness, celebrating Your constancy, worshiping Your reliability, grateful for a God who never fails.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen.
