I will praise Him in the storm.

Psalm 34:1·WEB Translation

I will bless the Lord at all times. His praise will always be in my mouth.

The Last Line

Our small group is made up of young families. Eight couples or so, all with children under five. It's chaotic and beautiful and exactly what you'd expect.

A few weeks ago, one of the couples asked us to pray for some friends of theirs who were expecting twins. At 30-something weeks, they got the news that the babies weren't likely to survive.

I won't share the details. They're not mine to share. But we prayed. And we kept praying.

A couple of weeks later, the message came through. The babies had arrived. They had a few hours together. And then they went to be with the Lord.

We don't know them, but we got forwarded the message where they explained what had happened, what those final hours looked like. And at the very end of the message, after all of that, they wrote this:

God is good.

I don't think I would have been able to write, say, or even think those three words after having just gone through that. That's praise in the deepest storm I can imagine.

I don't know what storm you're in today. But I want to invite you to do what those parents did.

To praise him in the middle of it.

You might not be able to say God is good yet. I get that.

The thought of worshipping him in your storm might even make you angry. I get that too.

You might not even be able to say words. But try taking a minute, raising a hand, and being still in his presence.

I'll be praying for you.

Lord, I will praise You in the storm, not just when skies are clear but when winds are howling, when I'm in the middle of chaos and everything feels like it's falling apart.

Praising You in the storm feels impossible when I'm being tossed by waves, when I can barely breathe, when circumstances are screaming louder than my worship.

Teach me that praise in the storm isn't about denying the difficulty or pretending everything is fine, but about declaring Your goodness even when I don't see it clearly.

The storm is real, the struggle is valid, the pain is honest, but so is Your faithfulness, Your power, Your presence with me in the middle of it all.

Help me lift my voice in worship when everything in me wants to complain, to choose praise over panic, to declare Your goodness when circumstances suggest otherwise.

Remind me that some of the most powerful worship happens in storms, that praise in hardship honors You more than praise when everything is easy.

Give me strength to worship You today regardless of what's happening around me, to praise not because the storm has passed but because You're in the storm with me.

Let me praise You in the storm, proving that my worship isn't conditional on circumstances but rooted in who You are, unchanging even when everything else is chaos.

In Jesus' name,

Amen.
