Lord, silence my worries so I can hear Your voice

Today’s Verse

“Be still, and know that I am God.”

Psalm 46:10

The Noise Between

Worry is loud. It doesn’t whisper politely, it shouts, it spirals, it drowns out everything else. And in the chaos of our anxious thoughts, God’s voice can seem impossibly distant, like trying to hear a whisper in a storm.

But here’s what we often forget: God isn’t competing with our worries for attention. He’s waiting for us to stop competing with Him. His voice has always been there, steady and sure, speaking peace into our chaos. We just can’t hear it over the noise we’re making.

Silence isn’t the absence of sound, it’s the presence of stillness. It’s the intentional choice to stop rehearsing worst-case scenarios long enough to remember who holds tomorrow. It’s the discipline of saying, “I don’t know what’s next, but I’m going to sit here until I remember who does.”

Today, practice the art of holy interruption. When the worries start their familiar loop, stop. Breathe. Ask God to quiet what He needs to quiet so you can hear what He needs to say. His voice may not be loud, but it’s always true. And sometimes the most courageous thing we can do is simply be still enough to listen.

Today’s Prayer

Lord, silence my worries so I can hear Your voice.

My mind is so loud with distraction and fear, and I long to hear You clearly.

Silence the noise within me, the anxious thoughts that spiral, the fears that shout, the doubts that whisper.

Teach me to be still in Your presence, to quiet my heart enough to listen for Your gentle whisper.

I confess I often fill the silence with my own plans and solutions, when what I really need is to hear Your wisdom and guidance.

Help me create space in my day to sit with You, to wait for You, to tune my ear to Your voice above all others.

Remind me that Your voice brings peace, not panic; clarity, not confusion; truth, not worry.

Give me the courage to trust what You say, even when it asks me to let go of my need to control.

Let me find rest in knowing that You speak to those who listen, and You guide those who wait on You.

In Jesus’ name,

Amen
