In every season, God remains the same.

Malachi 3:6·WEB Translation

For I, the LORD, don't change.

When the Path Doesn't Make Sense

The hard seasons don't usually shake my belief that God is there. I know He hasn't gone anywhere. I know He still loves me.

But what's harder to hold onto is what He's doing. Why is this happening? Why is it dragging on? Why does He seem to be letting something hurt that He could stop?

I don't think I'm alone in saying I wrestle with that often.

The Israelites in Malachi were asking the same question. Where is God, why isn't He acting, why does it feel like nothing is happening?

And God's answer wasn't an explanation. It was a declaration. "For I, the LORD, don't change." He didn't tell them what He was doing. He told them who He is.

Maybe you're in the middle of a difficult season. A prayer that keeps going unanswered. A door that stays closed no matter how many times you knock. Maybe you're watching someone you love go through something you can't fix, and wondering why God isn't fixing it either.

Whatever the season, I think that's still His answer. Not the reason. Not the plan. Just "I am the same God I have always been."

That can be hard to hear, though - especially when you need a move of God. But I try to focus on who He is, which never changes, and on the days when nothing else makes sense, that's the only thing that holds.

Lord, in every season, You remain the same, unchanging when everything around me shifts, constant when my circumstances fluctuate, steady when my life feels unstable.

Seasons change constantly, hard ones give way to easier ones, joy turns to sorrow, sorrow eventually to joy again, but through every transition You remain exactly who You've always been.

Teach me to anchor myself in Your unchanging nature instead of my changing circumstances, to find security in who You are rather than what's happening around me.

This season feels different than the last one, harder or easier, darker or lighter, but You're the same God in this season as You were in that one, faithful then, faithful now.

Help me trust Your consistency when everything else is inconsistent, to hold onto Your unchanging character when my world won't stop changing, to rest in the one constant I have.

Remind me that You were the same in my past, You're the same today, You'll be the same in my future, that seasons come and go but You never change.

Give me peace that comes from knowing You don't shift with my seasons, strength from Your stability, hope from Your constancy that outlasts every changing circumstance.

Let me rest today knowing in every season, God remains the same, and that unchanging God is my anchor through every change I face.

In Jesus' name,

Amen.
